A Sound was founded in the spring of 2001 as a collaboration, between Thierry De Vries and
Ace Digital House.
 

Thierry has a history with synthesizers and started working in music studios around 1990. In 1993 he became a freelance sound editor. Since 1996 he has been running the sound postproduction department within the surroundings of Ace.
He was soon to be joined by Tom Daniëls, who played keyboards with a famous Flemish rockband before. Also Ben Van den Broek started working regularly on commercials and television series.

In 2001 it was time to move to bigger premises and a nice building was found at the Schiphollaan, with lots of parking space and easy accessibility. At the same time A Sound was founded and plans were laid out for the construction of a spacious 5.1 surround mixing studio, a machine room and an edit suite.

Around this time Pierry Tys joined the team and with his electronics background, he became an ideal technical manager. Pierre Van Caloen started at A Sound in July 2002 and has been designing these web pages.
